Day 11+12

I've been doing my exercises, still on crutches though. Ankle is still pretty stiff, tight, and sore. Not to mention, swollen as well. Just continuing to ice and elevate.

  1. Hey! Im actually also a triple jumper and about to get that procedure done. They thought it was achilles tendinitis for months and now doctor has determined its actually os trigonum. Ill be getting surgery next week. How was your recovery?? Are you already jumping and sprinting 100% or has it been a slow recovery?

    1. Hi! I apologize for the delayed response, I thought nobody was actually reading my posts, so I kind of neglected this blog account. This might be a little late, but I'm actually not sprinting 100% yet. I'm assuming that you are two weeks into your recovery?? I am at approximately three and a half months right now. The hardest I've sprinted so far was about 80-90% speed. However, I am definitely able to run faster than just a jog. My dorsiflexion is also not at 100% yet. Make sure you follow up with your physical therapist if you have one; if not, keep doing those exercises! Very crucial to the healing process. I would say the recovery process is a lot slower than I expected. My doctor said that I should be able to be sprinting at 100% full speed around January... So basically 6 months for a full recovery. I also haven't jumped yet, I actually haven't been doing much plyometrics in general because my coaches and athletic trainers do not want to risk hurting my ankle. I personally feel ready to do more plyos, but I think they're just trying to be extremely careful with me. I hope this reply helps you get an idea of what to expect for your recovery. If you any other questions, feel free to email me at cvlk17@yahoo.com or reply back on here. Wishing you a quick and well recovery.
